Premium Restorations

Macatawa Bay Boat Works offers full restorations of antique and classic wooden boats, as well as early model fiberglass runabouts.  We offer premium show restorations in addition to service/user restorations.  We specialize in complete re-framing, chine and keel replacement, hull re-planking, stringer repair or replacement, and top-side restoration.  We excel in building the strongest, longest-lasting bottoms with our improved-traditional construction method utilizing modern materials and technology while preserving authenticity.

Our customers have won numerous awards for excellence in authenticity as well as for superb custom restorations.  Many boats have benefited from our extensive resources, such as close relationships with former Chris-Craft employees, including members of the Smith family, and a long history of involvement with Century and other classic runabouts manufacturers.   Our years of experience have not only taught us attention to detail, but excellence in design and the benefits of utilizing modern marine technology.  References available upon request.

Typical MBBW Restoration 

     
Boat is disassembled and internal framework straightened and or replaced.

      
A new MBBW Double-Bottom is installed and then the boat is flipped right side up for hull-side and deck carpentry.

     
Boat is then sanded and faired all by hand, then stained and varnished.  

     
Engine, running gear, interior, and hardware are then installed to produce another show-winner!!
