1932 GarWood 18' Runabout Split Cockpit Runabout:
Here is a 1932 18 foot split cockpit runabout, model #18-35 that is one
of only 28 units of that model built in 1932 by GarWood. Originally
shipped from the factory to Saranac Lake, New York. There area only
five still known to be in existence. This rare boat was completely
restored by Roger Johnston in Ballston Spa, New York. Current owners
purchased the boat in 2001 and the interior replaced by Macatawa Bay Boat
Works with MBBW premium marine leather in maroon. The varnish was also
refurbished at this time. The boat took second in place in its class
at the Lake Tahoe Concours de'Elegance Boat Show.
The boat was repowered with a 1947 Chrysler Crown 250 cubic inch 6
cylinder engine that was balanced and fitted with hard valve seats to
allow use of high octane unleaded gas. The engine is rated at 140 HP
and has less than 15 hours if running time. It has a Zenith updraft
carburetor. The engine was rebuilt by John Matzen of Performance
Concepts located in Cotati, California. Matzen is well know and
highly respected classic marine engine rebuilder. The boat serial
number is 4299.
The boat comes with a single axle trailer that has new tires and a
spare. The boat has been revarnish again in 2007 and is ready for
enjoyment or show.
This rare and beautiful boat is being offered for $49,900 and is
